Afro Samurai ist die epische Geschichte eines schwarzen Samurais der sich für den Tod seines Vaters rächen will. Als Kind muss Afro mitansehen wie sein Vater brutal ermordet wird. Bei dem Kampf ging es um das Stirnband von Afros Vater, dem Stirnband Nr. 1, welches dem Besitzer gottgleiche Kräfte geben soll. Der Besitzer dieses Stirnbandes kann jedoch nur vom Besitzer des Stirnbandes Nr. 2 herausgefordert werden, während der Besitzer dieses Stirnbandes von jedem Gegner herausgefordert werden kann. Mit dem Schwur auf Rache macht sich Afro auf die Suche nach Justice, dem Mörder seines Vaters.
