يتعرف (ممدوح) على (حنان) على متن باخرة متجهة إلى اليونان، وتنشأ بينهما علاقة حب فيطلب منها الزواج، لكنها تعود إلى مصر فجأة، وتطلب منه ألا يبحث عنها. يعود ممدوح إلى مصر ليكتشف أنها متزوجة من (عزت بك) أحد مراكز القوى، تبدأ الحرب بينهما، ويتعرض ممدوح لأذى عزت في محاولته لاسترجاع حنان مرة أخرى.
